Introduction. The first deliverable is a Preliminary Project Plan.  The elements of this plan were discussed in class.  First, the group must decide on what type of system it wishes to develop.  This can be any system type; i.e. internet, intranet, client server, mainframe.

Requirements. The Preliminary Project Plan must have each of the elements of the project listed in the class lecture and noted on pages 56-57 of the text.  These are:  1) Overview - Scope, 2) Objectives - Business Requirements/Case.  Note that a Net Present Value Model must be included in this with an explanation of each of the assumptions, 3) General Technical Approach, 4) Contractual Aspects, 5) Schedules - a MS Project Schedule with the Major Milestones and at least 5 minor milestones with dates. The milestones are the phases of the SDLC used in class.  Reference the schedule from in the document text, 6) Resource Requirements/Personnel, 7) Evaluation Methods, and 8) Risk Assessment.

Class time of approximately 1 hour per class will be allowed for the groups to work together.  Remember, at each meeting, minutes must be kept and compiled.  The form for submitting the minutes is here

Also, don't forget that each student must keep a journal of his/her activity on the project to be turned in separately at the end of the quarter by each student.  The form for this is found here.
